Helicopter Trial Instructional Flight - NSW

'Your helicopter experience begins with a coffee and greeting with your instructor. Following this introduction you will be shown a video on some of the principles of helicopter flight and how the controls are used to manoeuvre the aircraft, specifically a Robinson R22 helicopter. This will last around an hour. After the video, we will show you how a pre-flight inspection of the helicopter is performed so as to ensure there will be no problems during the flight. It's then off to the whiteboard for a detailed briefing with your instructor on the precise specifics of the air exercise you will undertake. It is very important that this preparation is done properly before the flight. And then . . . Parked on one of our helipads will be the helicopter you will fly. Get in. Go through the start up procedure. The engine fires, the rotor blades start turning. A couple of minutes later you're floating above the pad. Your instructor maintains a watchful eye and safe control of the aircraft at all times. During your hour flight you learn to manipulate the controls individually. Toward the end of the flight you are flying the helicopter for yourself. When safely back at our base, you shut down the machine and then proceed to debrief with the instructor.'
