Oceanic Nature Watch Full Day - NSW
'Few people realise we have a large oceanic park at our doorstep! Come and see the cetaceans & seabirds in their own territory out on the continental shelf some 25 nautical miles to sea from Sydney. The different species you will encounter will vary with the season but it will include members of many different families. From August to December is your chance to catch a glimpse of the endangered wandering albatross the largest of all seabirds with a wingspan of up to 3 metres. In season there is always the chance of seeing humpback whales on their southern migratory path from the coral sea as well as sperm whales, false killer, pilot whales and dolphins, sharks and sunfish. The humpbacks can be particularly friendly during their September to November southern migration and it is not uncommon to have them swimming within metres of the boat. Helpful guides are on board to help you identify all of the species encountered. A hydrophone is available to use to tune into the whale songs.'
