Yachting Competent Crew Package - NSW

'This is the next stage on from the Introduction to sailing package (SBS183). You must have an AYF introductory course certificate or equivelent sailing experience to take this course. You will be welcomed at our base and after a short introduction you will be shown aboard your yacht. Our yachts are all keel boats which range in size from 31 to 50 feet. Yachts vary but include luxurious Hunter & Beneteaus. The Competent Crew package is a practical sailing program designed to reinforce the skills learnt during the Introductory Course and sees the student progressing onto such skills as man overboard, reefing, sail trim, meteorology and some basic chart work. The course will also focus on anchoring and mooring procedures to ensure the students are comfortable manoeuvring in and around marinas. The issue of safety on board yachts will also be discussed further. You will also gain valuable sea miles to further your skills and experience. This competent crew package includes: Two full days from 9.30am to 4.00pm. One full day bareboat charter course from 9.30am to 4.00pm, two x two hour classroom theory sessions, 2 x 2 hour twilight sailing sessions and four social races. (approximately 5 days in total, however the individual elements of this course may be spread over the course of a number of weeks). Upon successful completion of this comprehensive program you should be confident and competent enough to assist a skipper onboard a sailing yacht. With a little bit of extra practical experience you will be able to charter your own yacht in exotic locations worldwide such as The Whitsundays, Thailand, Tahiti, Caribbean, Mediterranean and North America. You will also obtain an AYF (Australian Yachting Federation) Competent Crew Certificate.'
