Kayaking For a Day - Vic (Sorrento)
'Sorrento and Portsea are both historical seaside holiday resorts endowed with maritime and early settlement history. You can 'pass back in time' as you paddle along the foreshore, observing historical houses along the cliff tops, outdoor swimming enclosures, the former quarantine station and some historical shipping wrecks. As you move closer to Pt Nepean, built up areas are left and dolphins, sea eagles, cormorants etc. may be observed. There is scope to do some snorkelling at the lunch spot so bring along some snorkelling gear.'

Kayaking is challenging by dolphin, Melbourne, Australia We were are Flinders, Victoria at our friends holiday house. He was into anything sporting including kayaking and was happy to show us how it was done.
We went out into the beach early, 9:00am, it was freezing cold but I was exciting non the less.
Before he let us hop into the Kayak we were taught what to do if the Kayak went upside down. If I remember correctly it was something like "push up, pull it towards you, and kick" hehe. We spent the whole day there I went bellyup a few times but got a hang of how to get out. It was a great holiday! If you are a water person, I definetly recommend it. I give it 4/5 |

Penguin Flip by krokoseum, melbourne, australia Sea Kayaking is a very challenging activity. It requires a good fitness level. I did sea kayaking about 2 years ago and paddling was really tough, it took a lot of my energy but it was so much fun :>. Your body's strapped into the kayak (we call it the skirt) and you need to learn how to flip your self when your kayak is tossed and your head and body's underwater. That's probably the most important survival lesson. My boyfriend and his friends did a lot of sea kayak expiditions where they would travel 1 week in kayak with just fresh water fitted in the kayak and some high energy snacks. They cannot carry a lot of stuffs so nuts and dried fruits are the preferable fruit.
One day, he went on an expidition in a very bad weather, he had to stay in the kayak for hours. He said your kayak is your tool to survive, you cannot loose your kayak in the middle of the sea or else you will not survive. Sea Kayak is not just for serious kayakers, I like to go in the sea and just paddle along. Its fun, I really enjoy it. |
