The Gold Coast is located in the state of Queensland, situated in the north eastern part of Australia, 80km south of the Queensland capital city of Brisbane. It stretches 70km from South Stradbroke Island, to Rainbow Bay, with the main commercial airport located in the southern part of the Gold Coast, in Coolangatta. Getting to Gold CoastThe easiest way to reach the Gold Coast is by plane. It is approximately a half hour drive to Surfers Paradise, depending on traffic. You can also reach the Gold Coast relatively easily by taking a bus to from Brisbane, which takes approximately two hours by coach. Famous for many reasons, the Gold Coasts’ main attractions are the beaches and the consistently fine weather. Average summer temperatures range from19 to 29 degrees Celsius (66 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit) and average winter temperatures range from 9 to 21 degrees Celsius (48 to 69 degrees Fahrenheit). This ideal weather has attracted some major investment, especially in the form of theme parks, hotel and resorts, and buzzing beach side precincts, in addition to the flourishing business of caring for the aging Australian population. Queensland is the equivalent to Florida in America. This is where the elderly and retirees flock, as the weather is fine and the property is relatively affordable compared to other Australian cities (namely Sydney and Melbourne). Tourism is a major source of income for Queensland, and for a reason. There are endless things to do, from sports and recreation to health retreats in the secluded plush mountains to theme parks and shopping. Most visitors will experience the endless white sandy beaches, theme parks, vibrant night life, shopping, interesting restaurants, and five star accommodation, which is the essence of the Gold Coast. Surfers Paradise & BeachesThe most famous beach on the Gold Coast is Surfers Paradise. Voted as one of the best activity beaches in the world by the National Geographic channel, the soft white sand and big waves provides the ideal location to join in the beach activities. The average water temperature is a refreshing 22 degrees Celsius, which is relatively warm, compared to other states in Australia. |
